Another sunny day. The winter cold seemed almost unnoticeable beneath the golden rays that cast the powder snow in pale gold. The people were shuffling about in their trivial errands as the midday traffic casually drifted by. It was a relatively busy town and didn't seem to care what sort of tourists passed through their borders. The townsfolk were all welcoming and even somewhat civil. There were even a fair number of mom'n'pop businesses that seemed to be surviving just fine in the new world. One such shop--James' clothing store--had just made a sale to a rather attractive young man from the cities.
The shop doors opened up and I stepped out onto the street. The powder snow melted beneath the sharp black boots that I wore on my feet. The black jeans with silver tribal embroidery were held up by a black leather belt with a metal cross as the buckle. A white muscle shirt beneath a brand new black leather jacket--and a set of smiling pearly whites to tie the whole ensemble together. The pistol holsters hidden beneath my new jacket held the pair of gorgeous weapons I'd equipped myself with before leaving the city. My new bike--gleaming and glorious--sat just at the curb not too far away.
I made my way over to it and sat down. As I started up the beautiful machine the people on the street would see the name 'Hades,' written across the reinforced gas tank. I started up the radio--the marine speakers that I'd had custom installed sounding just as perfect as the bike itself--and then smiled at the song that came on. Looking to my right I saw a pair of young pretties walking down the sidewalk in my direction. They whispered and smiled to themselves as I lifted the kickstand and revved the engine. I offered a smile of my own before pulling away from the curb and down the road. I cruised through the town towards the highway that would soon bring me to Lebanon--the radio a little louder than it needed to be.
'Now I ain't afriad to do the Lord's work
You say Vengeance is His but I'mma do it first
I'm gon' handle my business in the name of the Law~
Oh~
Now if he made ya cry oh I gotta Know
If he ain't ready to die, he best prepared for it
My judgement's divine I'll tell ya who you can call~
You can call...You better!'
I swerved through a few vehicles parked at a red light. My elbow smashed through the driver-side mirror of someone's Focus and I didn't even flinch. My bike stayed straight as I laughed--the driver behind me screaming outside of his car--and I hit the edge of town far above the speed limit.
'Call the police! Call the coroner,
Call up yo priest! Have him warn ya,
Won't be no peace! When I find that fool~
Who did that to you? Yeah~
Who did that to you? My baby..
Gotta find that fool...who did that to you--'
Behind me I heard sirens come to life--and glanced over my shoulder to see the dirty cruiser rising up behind me. The pair of silhouettes in the windshield both wore sunglasses and looked as stern as police always did. I turned forward once more and turned my radio up loud enough so that I could hear it over the sirens--and picked the speed up to sixty as soon as I passed the city limits.
'Now I don't take pleasure in a man's Pain
But my wrath will come down like the cold Rain
And there won't be no shelter, no place you can go~
Eh-heyy~!'
I was up to ninety and the police were shouting through their speakers. They were beginning to annoy me. If they ruined my song then I'd certainly lose my temper. So I decided to just take care of it now while we were good and alone. I pulled into the oncoming lane and the officers took the bait. They sped up to get right alongside me so that the driver could shout out of his window on his own. 'Pull Over The Goddamn Vehicle!' I smiled wide and looked in his direction.
I moved my hand from the throttle and snapped my fingers while holding his gaze. The sudden spontaneous combustion that occured within their car caught them both by surprise. As they screamed and flailed in the flames they found that their doors locked on their own. That the steering wheel had locked up entirely--and that the pedal was pressed firmly against the floor. The only thing that had actually gone silent was the siren. The cruiser sped down the road and I cranked on the throttle to keep pace as I kept their burning metal tomb rolling down the highway.
My favorite part of the track came up, and I pulled as close to their burning vehicle as I could so that I could shout every word into the window at the driver. The enormous smile on my face made it too obvious how much fun I was having.
<i>"Time to Put Ya Hands Up! Time For Surrenda!
I'm a Vigilante! My Love's Defenda!
You're a wanted Man, oh everybody knows~!
Yeah!"</i>
Their screams came to an end before I even finished my singing. Their bodies were charred and limp in the flames as the vehicle kept speeding down the highway. I pulled away from the cruiser with a melodious giggle before releasing my hold on the steering wheel. I kept their gas floored and with a flick of my wrist sent them veering off the road. Their burning vehicle rolled several times before landing upside down in the snow. My jovial singing echoed around me as I peeled down the road towards Lebanon, becoming a speck on the horizon.
<i>"'Call the police! Call the coroner,
Call up yo priest! Have him warn ya,
Won't be no peace! When I find that fool~
